I am the co-founder at ConcussionRx, an AI-based application that utilizes our proprietary database to generate personalized interdisciplinary treatment plans for concussion patients. In the United States alone, an estimated 1.6-3.8 million people experience concussions each year. These injuries can affect up to six different areas, including vestibular function, balance, cognition, emotional regulation, and ocular motor coordination. Unfortunately, each of these systems requires treatment from different medical specialists In order to effectively rehabilitate these injuries. Patients need to identify which systems require treatment and assemble a team of coordinated professionals who may practice in different clinical locations or healthcare practices.
Regrettably, many patients who sustain concussions are not referred to all the necessary specialists by their physicians, who may be unfamiliar with the required multi-disciplinary approach. This lack of appropriate referrals often leads to prolonged recovery periods, which not only burden the patients but also impose significant costs on the healthcare system and insurers.
ConcussionRx is a platform meant to shepherd the patient and the clinician through the entire process from concussion assessment to recovery. The platform includes injury evaluation in the form of self administered tests taken by patient on computer or tablet. We then apply our AI based algorithm, trained on a propriety database of hundreds of concussion patients, which creates a personalized interdisciplinary treatment plan and recommends the necessary specialists a patient needs. The platform provides a space for both the patient, and their physician, to track their progress through to recovery. In addition to the assessment tools ConcussionRx will provide a clinician interface that coordinates care between medical and paramedical disciplines. This product will serve both the clinicians and the patients by coordinating the team of clinicians and assisting in patient self-navigation
